♥Hearts for Hospice♥

Hearts for Hospice is a wonderful philanthropic project that was started by members of the Greater Kansas City Needlepoint Guild. This project was initiated in 2015 to fulfill a need at a local hospice center. Since then, it has thrived so beautifully that it has branched out into it's own independent non-profit organization!

  • When a hospice resident passes away, a heart is placed on the door notifying others to be respectful of those mourning. The family of the resident can then take the heart home.
  • The beautiful needlepoint heart becomes a cherished remembrance, bringing peace to the recipient.

A message from Sue Hart in December 2023 reads "we are presently donating 60+ hearts a month to Kansas City local hospice centers.  We also provide patriotic (red, white & blue) hearts to a hospice center that provides at-home hospice care to veterans.  Our way of saying thank you for your service to veterans and their families."

To participate, you just stitch a heart and then ship it to Sue Hart - volunteers at Hearts for Hospice take care of the finishing! Dig into your thread stash and stitch your heart in any color or pattern you choose - there are no guidelines that must be followed.

Stitched hearts may be mailed to:
